CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Kids at South Canyon Baptist Church

Our Children’s Ministry exists to partner with parents in the raising of their children by creating a secure, loving and fun environment where kids can learn and follow Jesus for a lifetime. We do this through various ministries but ultimately our goal is that through these ministries we create a sense of church family where we walk through all of life, especially raising children in the Lord, together.

Basically, in a nutshell, we are all about the Gospel here at SCBC. We want every single thing we do with kids to point them to the good news of what Jesus Christ has done for them, to bring them into a full relationship with God for eternity.

Growing Little Disciples

We want to do all of that with excellence. We strive to be a place of safety and security for kids. A place of creative fun where kids can’t wait to be here and talk about it when they leave. We want to e a place that ultimately teaches them the truths of God’s Word and how all of life is about glorifying Christ.

Children’s Ministry Manual

Kids Life Classes

Kids Life Classes are our Sunday small-group Bible studies for preschool through 5th grade, held Sundays from 9–10 AM during the school year (summer break excluded). Kids explore the Generations of Grace curriculum at age-appropriate levels.

Location: All children’s classes are on the east side of the building, to the left of the main lobby doors.

3 & 4-year-olds (preschool) Life Class in room 123  

K-1st grade Life Class in room 125

2nd-3rd grade Life Class in room 202 (upstairs)

4th-5th grade Life Class in room 203 (upstairs)

Middle & Highschool students in the Youth Room (Room 132)  

Guidelines for Our Nursery

There is always someone at the Kids Check-In Center in the lobby to answer questions and help you get checked in and settled on Sunday mornings.

Safe & Trusted Volunteers

All nursery volunteers are background-checked and approved by SCBC’s Caring Well team.

Check-In Procedure

Parents must follow the security sticker check-in process. Kids will only be released to an adult with the matching sticker. Staff will guide you through this quick process.

Pager System

During check-in, you’ll receive a pager. If it vibrates, please return to the nursery immediately.

Meals & Medications

Nursery staff cannot feed meals from home or administer medications.

Toilet Training

Please provide pull-ups for children in the process of toilet training.

Toys from Home

Do not bring toys from home into the nursery.

Crying Policy

Staff will comfort children as appropriate. If a child cannot be consoled in a reasonable time, the parent will be paged.

A Place for Little Disciples

Children's Church

Children’s Church occurs during the main worship gathering and is for ages 3-Kindergarten. Children spend the first 15-20 minutes of the main worship gathering with their parents and then are dismissed to Children’s Church by someone from the stage (i.e a pastor.)   

  • All our volunteers are background checked and approved by the Caring Well team here at SCBC.
  • Parents must follow the security sticker check-in procedure (the Kids Check-In staff will guide you through this quick process at the check-in center.)
  • Children will only be released to an adult who presents the matching security sticker at the time of check-out. Please keep this sticker with you and present it every time you are picking up your child.
  • Children sing two or three fun, age-appropriate worship songs together.
  • Children hear a short Bible story from one of our storytellers.
  • Children break into small groups for fun, lesson reinforcement activities led by an adult and student leaders.
  • Children age 2-3 will meet in room 107
  • Children ages 4-Kindergarten will meet in the main Children’s Church room
